Problem areas
Cognitive-behavior
therapy (cbt) has a very strong scientific
support as a psychotherapeutic treatment
for various anxiety
disorders. Links with descriptions of each
respective anxiety disorder can be found below the
link "Anxiety disorders" at the left side. In
addition, a couple of other relatively common
psychological disturbances for which cbt has a
scientific and clinical support for are described.
A review of commonly occurring symptoms and
characteristics for each and one of these problem
areas is provided (see "Other problem areas" at the
left.
Besides the problem areas that are described there
are many other psychological disorders that can be
a target for treatment. Through the link "Home"
above, and the link "Research" you can see a long
list of psychological disturbances for which cbt
has a strong scientific support for. An additional
option is to seek information via the links that
are provided through the link "Links" above.
Through them one can gain additional information
about cbt and eventual resources that exist for a
particular problem.
It may be important to view ones own explorations
of what oneself is suffering from as preliminary
until a thorough assessment has been conducted
together with a licensed psychotherapist. Sometimes
one finds entirely correctly the main problems
responsible for ones suffering. However, many times
peoples own conclusions may not be entirely correct
or even erroneous. It is therefore important to go
through a formal assessment before one takes a
stance in terms of which psychotherapeutic
treatment that may be suitable in each particular
case.
